The property is the Triangle House, an innovative project featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs.
Judges’ Comments
Small Scale Residential Award:
“An innovative, self-build dwelling on a constricted site bounded by the main London railway line and the A29 trunk road. The very clever design has created a comfortable family home. All worktops formed from 'a single ash tree'! Sound approach to sustainability and energy efficiency, utilising solar panels, rainwater harvesting, heat recovery/recirculation, LED lighting. Excellent sound proofing - hardly aware of trains or traffic. A superb solution to a difficult site.”
Building Craft Award:
“The very clever design has created a comfortable family home. Excellent craftsmanship and detailing throughout.”

PROJECT DETAILS
TRIANGLE HOUSE - PULBOROUGH
The project is a timber frame stick-built house with a brick and block skin, incorporating blue bricks, white render and cedar cladding. The site itself has a 9” sewer crossing the plot at a depth that was impossible to build over or near; the immediate neighbour also has a public sewer running alongside her house; combined with the third side which flanks Network Rail, subsequently the shape left with was a triangular footprint.
